Dan Churchill, Broker, and his wife Suzanne made one trip to Boundary Waters for a weeks vacation in the late 80’s and they knew at once that they had no choice other than relocate from Chicago to Ely. After owning and operating a business for 27 years in the suburbs of Chicago they made the move, bought a resort and canoe outfitting business on Big Lake up the Echo Trail. Soon after they expanded their business to include a kennel of 45 sled dogs and guided their winter guests on trips that provided them with experiences of a lifetime. In his travels by canoe, dogsled and snowshoe Dan’s knowledge of Ely and the arrowhead region of north eastern Minnesota grew. After a couple of years Dan realized that many of his guests at the resort were also interested in owning their own place in the North Country, this prompted him to get his real estate license and then a brokers license and begin his work representing buyers in their search to fulfill their dreams of living up north.
